What are the features of this policy?
The standard Group Family insurance is a benefit that groups offer to their members. Although more commonly used purchased by employers for their workers, it can also be purchased by schools for their students or even Trader associations for the members amongst other examples.
The insurance contract is usually between the Salam Takaful and the group. The participating group members will receive certificates of coverage
On death of a participating group member, a lump sum is payable to the their beneficiaries/family to use to mitigate the loss.
It can be further customized to include additional benefits such as:
- Disability Insurance
- Burial expenses
- Accidental Medical Expenses
Section 9 Subsection 3 of the Act requires employers to maintain family/life insurance policy or death-in-service benefit scheme in favor of their employees for a minimum of (3) three times the annual total emolument of the employees.
This is the cheapest form of assurance cover and the cost is borne by the employer
